3 hours of work and 2000 gallons of water. That’s how Comox Fire crews spent their Sunday afternoon…battling a big blaze in the Northeast Woods.
Fire Chief Gord Schreiner says it took them about 30 minutes to initially find the fire.
Schreiner says crews left the hose on sight overnight and returned in the morning to put more water on the scene and make sure the fire was completely out.
He also notes safety is key when in the woods, and sends out an appeal to be safe in the forest. He says it’s the 3rd or 4th fire they’ve taken out in the past week in that area.

Schreiner adds there no injuries in that most recent fire and that Comox Fire crews believe the cause was a leftover campfire.
