Greyhound looking to pull the plug on regional bus service

Hot on the heels of sweeping BC Ferry sailing cuts, Greyhound Canada is looking to axe bus service on two key runs, Route “U” from Nanaimo to Campbell River, and Route “W”, from Campbell River to Port Hardy.

But that doesn’t mean bus service is about to be axed anytime soon, as Tofino Bus Services has an application before the Passenger Transportation Board, to take over the Nanaimo to Port Hardy service.

Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula has an automotive parts company, and says he is a regular customer of Greyhound’s freight service.

The deadline for public feedback to the Passenger Transportation Board, on Greyhound pulling out of the service, and on Tofino Bus Services taking over that North Island run, is July second.
