Replacement superintendent takes over for SD71

Comox Valley Schools has a new superintendent.

Tom Demeo is no longer the superintendent. The district says that Demeo “has concluded his duties as superintendent with Comox Valley Schools, [and] the district would like to thank him for his many years of service in public education, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Acting superintendent Geoff Manning is now in the role and has been serving as assistant superintendent of schools since 2019. He was also the K-12 director of instruction with the district for two years.

“We want to assure you that the board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of services,” said the district. “Mr. Manning is a long-time leader with Comox Valley Schools and the Board of Education has confidence in his leadership as we move forward.”

The district adds they will continue to prioritize the well-being and success of their students and staff.

Vista Radio contacted a school district spokesperson, who was unable to provide more details.
