Comox Valley Emergency Program recognizes volunteer’s dedication

The Comox Valley Emergency Program is recognizing one of its volunteers for his dedication after more than a decade of service.

The Comox Valley Regional District says Scott Goodman has been an “outstanding” volunteer, specifically with the emergency radio communications team.

Goodman’s highlights include providing expertise on two regional emergency operations centre radio rooms, providing technical advice for antennas and coordinating the regional emergency radio team.

Manager of Emergency Programs Howie Siemens says they are honoured to have Goodman on the team and as a leader.

“Scott was instrumental in supporting [the emergency program] in the development of the regional emergency radio communications program and coming up with the concept of neighbourhood HUB radio volunteering opportunities,” said Siemens.

“He is dedicated to ensuring our region will have communications when all the other telecommunications fail.”

Acting CAO James Warren adds Goodman’s dedication, professionalism and response has been exceptional.

Goodman also is a representative on the Comox Valley emergency program planning committee.
