Coastal Fire Centre advises extreme caution

With the hot and dry weather, the Coastal Fire Centre hasn’t actually responded to as many calls as you might think.

But the Centre’s Marg Drysdale says the fires they have dealt with have been pretty serious.

She also has a note for campers, saying open fires, fireworks and campfires are banned in the BC Wildfire Services jurisdiction across the entire province.

Drysdale adds lightning has been a concern for the Centre as well.

Drysdale adds carelessness is a cause of some of the fires they’ve seen and reminds residents to be careful to avoid sparking up accidental blazes.

If you’re concerned with anything, she says to report it to the Coastal Fire Centre.

Drysdale adds you can also check out the BC Forest Fire Info Facebook page for more.

She says the fire danger rating is pegged at high or extreme in most areas.
