20 facilities to close for Truth and Reconciliation in Comox Valley

With National Day for Truth and Reconciliation next weekend, expect several closures in the Comox Valley.

The city of Courtenay says the day will be used to reflect on the history and legacy of residential schools in the country, including the seven schools that were on Vancouver Island.

As a result, the city, Comox Valley Regional District, Town of Comox, and Village of Cumberland will be closing a total of 20 facilities.

Those include Comox Community Centre, Comox Valley Aquatic Centre, Lewis Centre on September 30, and the Comox Town Hall and Florence Filberg Centre on Monday October 2.

The city adds that there are ways you can show support, including wearing orange on September 30, and attending the Comox Valley Spirit Walk set for Simms Millenium Park.

More info can be found on the city’s website.
