Missing hiker sightings, backback now recovered

A major search continues for missing Comox Valley hiker, 69 year old Sylvia Apps, who failed to return to base camp on Sunday, after venturing out on a hike in Strathcona Park nearly a week ago back on Tuesday of last week.

Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue President Paul Berry says there have been several recent sightings of her…and her backpack has just been recovered.

Berry says the odds are in her favour, as she is a well equipped, experienced hiker, with mother nature also on her side…

An extensive search effort continues with aircraft assets also dispatched.
