Comox Fire Dept responds to Sproat Lake Fire

A contingent from the Comox Fire Department have now joined the firefighting effort at the Sproat Lake Fire near Port Alberni.

Assistant Fire Chief Jim Lariviere says they now have set up a structural protection unit in a pro-active approach, to save homes from being destroyed in the huge wildfire.

Lariviere says the Comox Firefighter group will be stationed in the Port Alberni area for a few days this week, and have made progress in taking measures to protect several homes.

Numerous wildfires continue to burn around the province, and an air quality advisory from smoke filled skies, continues in the Comox Valley today.
