Port Hardy residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief…with the evacuation order earlier rescinded…and now we learn from the mayor tonight, the State of Emergency declaration has now been lifted.
Mayor Hank Bood says although the fire is still smouldering, firefighters are working on it, and the city is not in the extreme danger it was a few days ago.
Firefighting efforts continue around the province with crews responding to dozens of wildfires, including the Sproat Lake Fire near Port Alberni.
Meanwhile the community has moved to severe Stage 3 water restrictions effective immediately.
