One man is dead after a shooting incident involving an RCMP officer in Port Hardy.
Reports say a man, possibly armed with a knife, was shot and killed by police late this morning, with witnesses spotting a body covered in a tarp, on Granville Street at Highway 19.
RCMP confirm the Independent Investigations Office is now officially investigating the shooting.
No further details have been released by police, but a major investigation continues on scene.
