You can give feedback on Courtenay’s financial plan through a new, interactive simulator.
Called the Balancing Act budget simulator, it’s a virtual tool designed to allow residents to shape the 2024-2028 financial plan, while sharing their budget choices with the city.
Mayor Bob Wells says the simulator will help residents give feedback to the city in a user-friendly way.
“We’re excited to see the launch of this new tool because it takes what for many people might be a really complex topic and presents it in a much more accessible way,” said Wells.
“There’s a significant amount of work by staff that goes into developing the City’s budget every year for Council’s consideration, and it can be challenging for anyone without an accounting background to understand how that process works.”
Using the simulator, you can provide feedback on revenue and expense categories, which includes increasing or decreasing revenue to arrive at a balanced budget that’s based on your priorities and values.
You have until November 22 to finish up the simulator, with a link available on the city’s website.
