Report on substance use strategy makes way to Comox council agenda

An update on the ongoing Comox Valley Substance Use strategy is on the agenda for this week’s Comox council meeting.

The meeting will see Kari Hackett, Coordinator for the Comox Valley Substance Use Strategy, and Betty Tate of the Comox Valley Community Health Network present a report to council on the Strategy’s second phase.

The report will focus on the milestones achieved during the phase, which includes getting $140,000 secured for Phases 2 and 3, hiring a strategy coordinator, and holding 16 conversations with people who have lived or living experience with substance use and service providers.

Both Betty and Kari are asking for council to provide $15,000 in funding for Phase Three, to participate or show support for new recommendations, and to take part in action tables.

The meeting will take place this Wednesday on Council chambers in Comox, starting at 5:00 pm.
