Fire Hazard drops

Thanks to a steady downpour for much of the weekend, the region’s fire danger rating has dropped down a few notches.

That from Coastal Fire Centre spokesperson Elly Dupont who says earlier the fire hazard was pegged at extreme, but it has now plunged…

Dupont says the cool, wet weather helped firefighters gain the upper hand on numerous fires, including the Port Hardy area wildfire which is now in the mop-up phase.

Dupont says Coastal Fire Centre crews have been going full tilt battling various wildfires.
