After five days of fundraising at multiple locations across the Comox Valley, Jet FM’s Stuff the Truck fundraiser brought in more than just cash for the Comox Valley Food Bank.
By the end of the day on Friday, the campaign had fundraised over $90,000 and sold 185 of its 1,000-pound pallets. This means over 185,000 pounds of food will go to the local food bank this year.
“So many new and familiar faces came out to support CVFB over the last five days, and we are truly blown away by the generosity and community spirit here in the Comox Valley,” they said.
“We would not have had so much success without you.”
The Jet FM team spent last week fundraising at Thrifty Foods Courtenay Crossing and the Courtenay, Cumberland and Comox fire departments.
The biggest increase was recorded on Friday, when the team started with 70 pallets sold. One-hundred-fifteen were later sold, bringing in the 185,000-pound total.
Comox Valley Food Bank deputy executive director Justin Lafortune added that this year has seen more need at the food bank and surpassed last year’s total of $86,000 raised.
