If you don’t want to reuse any used collection containers, the City of Courtenay says you can donate them.
The city says this comes as a response to residents expressing interest during the cart delivery period this year, with residents able to donate the containers in the new year.
There are two options for donating, where for the first one, you will be given three opportunities to put any clean and used recycling, garbage, or organics containers out on curbside for collection day.
Any old containers would be put behind the automated carts, according to the city.
The second option is to drop off the clean containers at the McKenzie Avenue gate to the City Public Works Yard, where you can also pick up any used containers at the same spot.
You can donate the containers between January 15 and February 2, 2024.
