Charges laid in Port Alberni death

The investigation into the death of 19 year old Carlene Jack in Port Alberni early Wednesday morning has resulted in charges being laid against an 18 year old Port Alberni woman, known to the deceased.

The accused remains in custody, and is set to appear in Port Alberni Provincial Court later today. Her identity will not be released, pending her first court appearance.

The other two people arrested in the early stages of this investigation have been released without further process. Investigators do not expect to lay additional charges at this time.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424, or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

As this matter is now before the Courts, police are unable to provide any further details or comment.
