Junior Canadian Rangers training in the Comox Valley

The Junior Canadian Rangers are honing their skills in the Comox Valley…taking part in 2 summer training camps.

Captain Scott Macdonald with the JCR says rangers will be taking part in variety of activities, like kayaking, wilderness survival and navigation, among other skills.

Now some may want to see crews in action. Macdonald says the majority of the training will be closed to the public, but kayaking exercises will be open for viewing.

He says you can check out the kayaking at Comox Lake on July 19th, 24th and 25th.

This is the first time the JCR has done their training in the Comox Valley. They previously held their camps in Vernon.

The first camp is on now and goes until July 27th, with the second camp taking place August 13th to 24th, 2015.
