Wide-scale power outage strikes Courtenay Thursday

A wide-scale power outage struck downtown Courtenay on Thursday.

BC Hydro listed the cause of the incident as a motor vehicle incident.

Power dropped off at 11:49 am and is affecting 4,021 Hydro customers.

UPDATE 12:14 PM: A crew has been assigned to work on solving the problem.

UPDATE 12:36 PM: Power estimated to be back on by 1:40 pm.

UPDATE 12:46 PM: BC Hydro says power has been restored.

UPDATE 1:08 PM: BC Hydro updated the cause of outage to be a tree down across their wires.
