Members of CUPE Local 556 have given back to the community in a big way!
The union pulled their dues together and have contributed 70 cases of tinned wild salmon to the Comox Valley Food Bank.
President Karen Garrett says it has a strong impact on food bank users. She says approximately 1200 people use the food bank every month, with 3% of those being children.
Garrett adds the work was done in conjunction with Protein for People, a community partnership started by unions and the United Way to address protein shortage in food banks across the province.
