Comox Valley wrestlers took home medals in recent tournament

Comox Valley student wrestlers really took it to the mat in a recent tournament in Port Alberni.

School District 71 says Comox Valley students recently competed in the Alberni Classic tournament, where over 500 wrestlers from Vancouver Island and the province competed on 68 teams.

For the Vanier senior girls, Alice Clements won a gold medal, Alexis Action won silver in her first tournament back from injury, Jolina Healey reached third place, and Kylie Cameron-Patterson took fifth place. This put the girls as the runner-up to Maple Ridge.

For the rest of the squad, the district says that Max Korthuis and Kane Acton got silver medals, while Tristen Beaudrey won bronze.

Along with the medals, Jacob Price and Ben Howlett came fourth, and Ryan Nasadyk and Quinn Hoar reached fifth.

The team is at the Island Championships in Victoria this Saturday for a chance to take part in the Provincial Championships in Vancouver.
