Vehicle located from Courtenay fatal hit-and-run

Police in the Comox Valley have located the vehicle involved in a fatal Courtenay hit and run.

It’s an update in the investigation following the incident which happened before 11 pm on Thursday, February 8, on the Comox Valley Parkway near Minto Road. A cyclist had been hit by a vehicle and was located by a passerby who phoned 911. Emergency services arrived on the scene and transported him to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

“While the investigation remains in its infancy, it is progressing well,” said Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in British Columbia. “Due to the sensitive nature of this investigation, no further details will be shared at this time.”

Control of the investigation has been turned over to the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crimes Unit (VIIMCU). They’re asking anyone with information or dashcam footage from that night that might help the investigation to contact the VIIMCU information line at 250-380-6211.
