Amethyst House officially opens!

The Amethyst House has officially opened!

20150720_101534The recovery centre for women dealing with substance abuse holds 12 beds and will offer 24/7 service for those in need in the Comox Valley.

The building is located at 280 2nd Street in Courtenay. Local MLA Don McRae was on hand for the official ribbon cutting ceremony this morning.

McRae says the government of British Columbia pays for 9 of the beds, with work by the Comox Valley Transition Society and various other organizations adding in 3 extra beds as well.

McRae says addiction is no small issue, and the Amethyst House will help out not only those staying there, but their families and the entire Comox Valley as well.

For more information, visit the centre’s official website.
