Comox Valley Schools improv teams clinch top finishes at Canadian Improv Games

Comox Valley Schools improv teams are bringing home multiple top finishes from the Canadian Improv Games last week.

Teams from Highland, Vanier and Isfeld secondary schools travelled to Victoria to compete in the games. Isfeld’s junior team, led by Peter Spencer and Ellie McNamee, took first place and marked a significant milestone.

Three teams took part in the competition from Vanier. The Junior team managed to take second place with their skills and creativity. Meanwhile, the district says the senior teams coached by Lori Mazey and Howie Show secured second and fourth places respectively.

Meanwhile, Highland’s Five Things team coached by Lisa Williams and Olivia Parsons earned third place with their “unique approach” to different styles and interpretations.

“In addition to the team accolades, Ellie McNamee of Comox Valley was honoured with the Spirit of the Games Award,” said the district. “This recognition underscores the positive attitude, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that are as much a part of the games as the performances themselves.”

The district congratulates all the students, staff and coaches and adds the games continue to be a learning and nurturing ground for young performers.
