$12-million from the government of B.C. will be going towards 14 public post-secondary institutions for new trades equipment.

North Island College has received $447,972 for their programs and it will be put towards purchasing a panel saw, transformations, an edge sander and other equipment for students.

NIC Development Writer Christiana Wiens says every year they provide a list of what they need, and the funding goes towards programs that support in-demand jobs on Vancouver Island.

Wiens says that the provincial government is strongly supporting its B.C. Skills for Jobs Blueprint to make sure students are job ready for the careers that are coming.
