College of Nurses warns of possible unlicensed midwife in Comox Valley

The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives says there may be someone offering midwifery services in the Comox Valley without a permit.

The college says they have got reports that Erika Nabuurs has been advertising herself as a birth attendant and may be performing restricted activities as described in the Midwives Regulation, without a permit.

The college says Nabuurs has never been and is not a registrant of the college and cannot practice as a midwife in the province.

BCCNM encourages you to verify the registration status for any individual who says they are a midwife with the midwife verification on their website or by asking the registration department.

The college adds nurse and midwife registration verification ensures only qualified people with the required skills and education can be nurses and midwives and practice in B.C.
