School District 71’s robotics teams have brought home 7 trophies at the Provincial championships.
The district says they went up against 30 other teams from the Island Region on March 2 at Brentwood Collegiate School in Mill Bay.
During the tournament, the students held 7 out of 10 positions during the qualifying rounds, reaching first and second place, before going through the quarterfinals and semi-finals.
While Teams Z – Zephyr and F-Fractal didn’t make it to first place, they did win 2 finalist trophies.
Other teams won trophies, including Team F winning the design award, Team A – Alphabet soup winning the build award, and Team B – the braindeads taking home the sportsmanship award.
The district thanks the parents, mentors, community volunteers and the coach for their support of the team.
Teams Z and F will soon compete in the VEX World Championships in Dallas on the week of April 25.
