Cumberland’s RV Sani-station to close in April

The RV Sani-station in Cumberland is set to close this April.

According to the village, the station has been seeing an increase in usage after becoming the only public dump station between Miracle Beach Provincial Park and Parksville.

Because of a lack of control over how much and what is being deposited, and concerns about increased loading on their wastewater treatment system, the station will be closed.

They say the Cumberland wastewater system is out of compliance with the provincial requirements for its operating permit. To comply with the permit, they are upgrading the village’s wastewater plant.

The village adds they have written a letter to the Comox Valley Regional District, with hopes that a new station will open at a different location.

The station will close on April 8.
