No doubt many North Island residents heading down Island to Victoria have found themselves stuck in traffic in what locals calls the “Colwood Crawl”, but this major project will help alleviate that.
An 85-million interchange is now going to be built at the McKenzie Avenue intersection at the Trans-Canada Highway in Saanich.
North Island MP John Duncan, joined by B.C. Transportation Minister Todd Stone and Langford Mayor Stew Young made it official in a joint funding announcement.
The feds will kick in $32.6 million toward the project in using the New Building Canada Fund. The province will fork out $52.3 million.
