Dyke Road Park’s parking and viewing area to close for construction

Starting later this month, the Comox Valley Regional District will completely rebuild Dyke Road Park.

The work is part of the Dyke Road Park revitalization project, aiming to not only improve the park’s amenities and features, but also to bring shoreline restoration.

The district says the parking lot and viewing area will be closed to allow crews to dismantle the viewing platform, while giving K’omoks guardians and archaeologists the time to finish investigations.

General manager of community services Doug Demarzo says to finish the project, they need to take advantage of the work window to complete as much shoreline restoration as possible.

They add the closures are to coincide with the Sewer conveyance project. After dismantling the viewing platform, it will be recycled and taken to 19 Wing to be used for training.

The parking and platform will be closed from May 23 this year to fall 2025.
