Upgrades to Comox Valley’s sewer service to affect traffic flow

Sewer service upgrades in the Comox Valley are set to disrupt traffic flow at many key corridors.

The sewer conveyance project will have nine kilometers of sewer forcemain installed from the Courtenay pump station, through Comox, and onto the wastewater treatment plant on Brent Road.

Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) senior manager of capital projects delivery Charlie Gore says traffic plans have been arranged to maintain traffic flow and to allow the project to finish in a timely matter.

“This plan will keep the best flow for traffic, and we’re focused on making sure people are prepared so they know the route and can plan their commute accordingly,” said Gore.

One-way vehicle traffic along Comox Road heading westward is expected for most of 2025. The district says traffic going into Comox from Courtenay eastbound will be redirected up Ryan Road to Lerwick Road.

Bicycle travel will be unaffected in both directions along Comox Road.

They add two open houses will be hosted at the CVRD civic room for you to learn more about these plans.

The first is set for June 18 from 5-7 p.m., followed by the second on June 19 from 12-2 p.m.

A recorded presentation of the plans is also available online.
