Hornby Island campground getting major upgrades

Big changes are coming for Tribune Bay Provincial Park on Hornby Island.

BC Parks is looking for a contractor to nearly double the number of campsites at the park, and build the infrastructure to support them. A request for proposals posted on BC Bid says they want a contractor to add 40 new walk-in sites, 66 drive-in sites, new roads and parking lots, power, water and plumbing, and nine cabins.

They also want a new shower building, service centres, a new trail network, and an EV charging station.

The upgrades are expected to take two years, and won’t start until at least late September.

The ministry says it has a maximum of $4 million set aside for the improvements.
