Leaders debate nothing special, according to political analyst

Thursday’s leaders’ debate on the economy won’t be remembered as a big moment in the campaign, at least according to political analyst Allan Warnke.

The NDP’s Tom Mulcair, Liberal Justin Trudeau and Conservative Stephen Harper were all at the debate, but Green Leader Elizabeth May wasn’t invited…but she did manage to participate via Twitter.

Warnke, a retired VIU prof, says while there was no obvious “winner”, at least one of the trio came off better than he did in the first debate.

Warnke also says May’s strategy of using Twitter to respond in real-time to the debate could pay dividends because people will give her credit for trying something different and take time to check out the Green platform.
