NIC Board Reviewing Pay Parking on Thursday

North Island College’s Board of Governors is reviewing the issue of paid parking at its Comox Valley campus on Thursday.

The decision to review the parking situation came after Island Health announced that parking would be free at the new Campbell River and Comox Valley hospitals.

The Health organization had originally planned to implement pay parking but faced strong community backlash.

NIC implemented pay parking last year, which school President John Bowman says was “probably the most unpopular thing” the college has ever done. According to the President, whatever decision is made on Thursday could come into effect as early as Sunday, October 1st.
