Public invited to sewage treatment plant open house

COMOX, B.C- Residents of the Comox Valley have a chance to check out the other end of the sewage system next month.

According to a press release from the Comox Valley Regional District, two open houses are being set up for November 6th and November 8th, down at the Comox Valley Water Pollution Control Centre along Brent Road in Comox.

With both events running from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., tours will be around 25 minutes in length, and will allow residents a close-up view of the waste treatment plant.

“We’re starting an important planning process for the future of our sewer service and we want to increase public knowledge about how the system works,” said Kris La Rose, Senior Manager of Water/Wastewater Services, in the press release.

“We hope that with more understanding, the community will be interested in helping us to create a long term plan for sewer service in our community.”

According to the district, planning for the sewer service in Comox and Courtenay will start in the fall. Public and technical advisory committees have been formed, with regular meetings in the coming months.

Public comment and feedback will be asked for in open houses, online engagement, or “facilitated sessions”. Online feedback can be given at www.connectcvrd.ca.
