Public hearing focuses on rezoning for cannabis shop

COURTENAY, B.C. – The City of Courtenay wants to hear from you about a potential cannabis retailer in the community.

A public hearing is on from 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday at city hall in the council chambers.

Smoke on the Water on Cliffe Avenue has applied for a zoning amendment to allow for a cannabis shop.

Manager Matt Ceron said the hope is to open a new business, called Fire in the Sky, and operate it in a unit beside Smoke on the Water.

You can view a copy of the proposed bylaw at Courtenay City Hall from 8:30am to 4:30pm today and Tuesday, until the public hearing.

If you are unable to attend the public hearing, written submissions must be received by the City no later than 4:00pm today.
