CVRD office reopens to public on Monday

The Comox Valley Regional District office is about to reopen.

The office at 770 Harmston Ave. has been closed to the public since March 17th to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

Starting this Monday, July 13th, it will be open for limited front counter services and public attendance at CVRD board and committee meetings.

You’re asked to make use of online and telephone services first to help limit lineups and keep the public and staff safe.

When in-person business cannot be avoided, you should call 250-334-6000 to make an appointment prior to arriving.

Front counter services will be available 8:00am until 4:30pm Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

The CVRD says it has developed an office safety plan following WorkSafe BC, Public Health Agency of Canada and the BC Ministry of Health guidelines.

New protocols include:

  • increased safety measures that include a hand-sanitizing station upon arrival;
  • physical distancing and directional traffic signage reminders;
  • enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures for counters and other shared surfaces; and
  • installation of physical plexiglass barriers at service counters to allow for the protection of employees and safer interaction.

“Upon arrival to the office for your scheduled appointment with staff, please ensure you avoid touching common touch points within the facility, refrain from putting personal items onto counters and remember to adhere to the 2 meter physical distancing requirements,” said CVRD Chief Administrative Officer Russell Dyson.

“Protecting your health and our staff is a top priority as we re-open our facility to the public.”

If you are showing COVID-19 symptoms you are prohibited from entering the building.

A free self-assessment tool is available here.

 If you are sick, you;’re asked to call 250-334-6000 and your appointment will be rescheduled.

Attendance at CVRD board and committee meetings are subject to physical distancing guidelines and with a maximum capacity of 30 people within the Civic Room being strictly enforced.

While attendance is permitted, you’re encouraged to watch board and committee meetings via livestreaming here
