Comox Valley residents are still being encouraged to be cautious with water use as restrictions begin to ease.
Effective Wednesday, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) has eased water restrictions from stage 3 to stage 2.
They say the shift is based on the CVRD water licence and water use agreement in partnership with BC Hydro.
Water services manager Mike Herschmiller thanks residents for respecting third-stage restrictions, but asks for more diligence until we get more rain.
“While this extended drought is still upon us, the minor increase in river flow allows us to move to stage 2 restrictions,” said Herschmiller.
“It is still important for Comox Valley residents to remain diligent and continue to be thoughtful with your water use.”
They say stage 2 restrictions will be removed once Comox Lake levels return to normal and Puntledge River flows hit 15.4 cubic metres per second.
Lawn and garden sprinkling is permitted between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for even numbered addresses.
Odd-numbered addresses can water at the same times on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
