Ashes of deceased father stolen in Courtenay

The Comox Valley RCMP is looking for some stolen ashes.

Police received a report today that a car parked on the 700-block of 8th Street in Courtenay was broken into sometime last night.

The thief took the ashes of a deceased father from the glove compartment. The ashes are in a plastic bag, inside a blue velvet drawstring pouch.

“Obviously, this is something of great sentimental value to the owner,” said Cst. Monika Terragni. “We would like people in the area to keep an eye out for this blue velvet pouch since it may have been tossed onto the ground or into the bushes.”

Anyone with information about this theft or the whereabouts of the blue velvet pouch is asked to call the Comox Valley RCMP at (250) 338-1321.

If you wish to make an anonymous report, get in touch with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or by submitting a tip online here
