Staff shortage will close Courtenay outpatient lab temporarily

The downtown Courtenay outpatient lab will be closed for a few days because of staff availability.

Island Health says the lab will be closed from Aug. 5-8 and will return to normal hours on Aug. 11.

“The North Island Hospital, Comox Valley outpatient lab will continue to be open for regularly scheduled hours and remaining staff from the downtown location will be shifted to support additional volumes,” reads a news release from Island Health.

Island Health says it worked with LifeLabs to prepare for the closure and the LifeLabs location near the downtown lab will help to support people’s outpatient lab needs for the few days.
