Comox Valley RCMP arrest multiple people after complaints about off-road vehicles on streets

Comox Valley RCMP issued verbal warnings, tickets and made arrests after complaints about the improper use of dirt bikes and off-road vehicles.

A one-day enforcement operation was held in Cumberland on Nov. 8 following multiple reports of dangerous riding on public roads.

Officers from the street crimes unit, police dog services, traffic services and Air 8 issued eight verbal warnings, four traffic tickets, impounded four vehicles and made five arrests.

Most riders cooperated when stopped, including youths riding dirt bikes and quads within town limits.

Later that day, four dirt bikes failed to stop on Bevan Road. With help from Air 8, police located and arrested the riders. Their bikes were impounded, and they received tickets for 12 offences, including driving without a licence, no insurance and failing to stop for police.

The Comox Valley RCMP reminded residents to continue reporting concerns so police can respond and help keep the community safe.
