No injuries following house fire in Comox late Thursday afternoon

No injuries have been reported following a fire in Comox Thursday afternoon.

Comox Fire Rescue received a report of a house fire at 801 Tracker Pl. just after 2 p.m. on April 9.

Two fire engines, one aerial unit, one rapid attack vehicle and a duty officer attended the scene, with more than 20 firefighters on site.

Assistant fire chief Pascal Lafreniere said that due to a quick response, crews were able to limit the damage to one home.

“This is still under investigation, but accounts from the occupants suggest it could be related to a battery charging system in the attached garage.”

Lafreniere also said there was one person in the backyard and one inside the home at the time the fire started.

Both were not injured thanks to working smoke alarms and neighbours coming over to help everyone exit safely.
