Fourth annual community clean-up event coming to Courtenay April 25

The City of Courtenay is asking residents to help make the community shine.

The city will host its fourth annual community clean-up event Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Mayor Bob Wells said residents of all ages are invited to take part and help make the city’s parks, trails and neighbourhoods look their best.

“This year’s event continues to build on the community spirit that has shaped the cleanup since its beginning.”

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Courtenay Airpark next to the Rotary Sky Park Playground at 10 a.m. for a safety orientation.

Trash pickers will be given grabbers, bags and gloves for the event, which will take place rain or shine.

The event aims to clean up garbage and debris in urban and natural environments to help protect storm drains, creeks and waterways.

Volunteers are asked to pre-register to help organizers estimate participation.
