City of Courtenay celebrates opening of Arden Active Transportation Bridge

Another active transportation project in Courtenay has officially opened.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held earlier this week to mark the opening of the Arden Active Transportation Bridge.

The new infrastructure links the 1st Street and Lake Trail corridors and provides an accessible route for walking, rolling and cycling between neighbourhoods, schools and other community destinations.

The city said the bridge will help students and families travel safely while strengthening Courtenay’s active transportation network.

The opening comes just weeks after the $11-million 6th Street Active Transportation Bridge opened, linking Simms Park to downtown.
