Local SAR teams conducting helicopter rescue training Saturday

Local search and rescue teams will be conducting joint training exercises this weekend.

Comox Valley and Campbell River search and rescue crews will conduct helicopter rescue training at Menzies Crag on Saturday afternoon.

Comox Valley Search and Rescue said members from both teams make up the North Island Regional Class D Team, which trains together to maintain specialized helicopter rescue skills.

There may be increased helicopter activity and search and rescue personnel in the area throughout the afternoon.

Search and rescue officials are asking climbers and other visitors to give crews plenty of space to work safely.
