RCMP nab drug traffickers

COURTENAY, B.C.- The Comox Valley RCMP’s Drug Section arrested four individuals in relation to drug trafficking on January 9th, 2018.

The arrest was made in the 1700 block of Cliffe Avenue, according to an RCMP release.

Police collected suspected heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, as well as scales, packaging materials, an undisclosed amount of cash and other drug trafficking tools.

A vehicle was also towed away from the scene.

Two adult males, one adult female and a youth are facing charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

“We are continuing to use every available option to combat drug trafficking in the Comox Valley,” said Rob Gardner, a Constable with the Comox Valley detachment.

“The RCMP has observed a heightened presence of fentanyl in the Canadian illicit market and is taking the appropriate enforcement measures to ensure that Canadians are safe.”

Gardner noted that it was very disconcerting to see a youth involved in something like this.
