Courtenay votes YES to governance study question

COURTENAY, B.C- Residents of Courtenay want to take a look at how the Valley is governed.

During the latest municipal election, city residents were asked the following question.

“Are you in favour of conducting a study, in partnership with the Province of BC, to review the governance structures and policies of the City of Courtenay and other local governments within the Comox Valley to consider the feasibility and implications of restructure? YES or NO”

It appears that residents want that to happen.

The YES side won, with a unofficial vote count of 4734 to 1494 for the NO side.

How the new city government will handle the study remains to be seen.
