Port Hardy sets new April 19 temperature record, Comox ties previous mark

As temperatures warmed ahead of summer, two Vancouver Island communities set new benchmarks for daily high temperatures. 

Port Hardy reached a preliminary record high of 19.3 C on April 19, breaking the previous mark of 17.2 C set in 1950. 

Meanwhile, Comox tied its record high of 20 C for the same date, first recorded in 1915. 

The two Vancouver Island communities joined Cache Creek and Clinton as the four B.C. communities that set or tied temperature records on April 19, according to Environment Canada.
