The Rotary Club of Comox is thanking community members who helped make one of its recent events a success.
The club held its fourth annual drive-thru shredding event May 2 at North Island College, disposing of more than 16,000 pounds of confidential paper documents.
Club president Keith Gibson said the organization is grateful for the strong support shown by the community.
“This event continues to grow each year and it’s a wonderful example of what can be achieved when people come together for a common purpose, protecting the environment, safeguarding sensitive information and supporting local Rotary initiatives.”
The club said the effort saved an estimated 138 mature trees, contributing to environmental sustainability while helping protect personal information from identity theft.
Funds raised from the event will support local community projects and initiatives that benefit Comox Valley residents.
