An event is being held Wednesday in the Comox Valley to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Drivers in downtown Courtenay should expect road closures for the Comox Valley Spirit Walk.
The City of Courtenay expects nearly 1,500 people to take part in the event at Lewis Park.
Starting at 9:30 a.m., the Fifth Street Bridge, Fifth and Sixth streets and portions of Duncan Avenue will close to traffic.
The closures will move with participants and roads are expected to reopen around noon.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is observed each year on Sept. 30 to honour residential school Survivors and children who never returned home.
