City of Courtenay Upgrading Manholes Along Comox Road

City of Courtenay crews will be upgrading the existing manholes along Comox Road (Dyke Road) and the Highway 19A bypass.

The scheduled work will start on Thursday, October 19th with completion expected by Friday, October 27th. Work will take place between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays.

The work zone is between Ryan Road and the City of Courtenay boundary, which is just past the former Fields Sawmill site, at the Kus-kus-sum lands.

The existing manholes sit below the floodplain. This project will raise them above the floodplain, which will help reduce risks associated with infiltration.

The City says that vehicle traffic will periodically be affected within the work area. The work may encroach onto the vehicle travel lane, however, both travel lanes will remain open. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists within the work area.
